    Immediate Assignment/Activity Bundling

    Title:
    Immediate Assignment/Activity Bundling
    User Story / Description:

As a routing manager, I need to have immediate assignment/activity bundling to bundle and assign non-scheduled activities both at time of bulk routing and when the activities arrived during the day, including activities with SLA in the past so that only one technician is automatically assigned to perform multiple activities at the same location (network node). Specifically, the current feature should be enhanced as follows:

    1.       Activities bundle, based on visit bundling key, at the time bulk routing is run.  This would group activities at the start of the day and then item #2 would cover any activities that get created throughout the day.
    2.       The ability to bundle non-scheduled activities without the need to immediately assign an activity first.
    3.      Allow the ability to bundle activities that have an SLA start time in the past.  Current design only allows bundling of same day and future activities.
    4.      The ability to immediately assign non-scheduled activities and bundle additional non-scheduled activities.

Updated requirements as per 03/24/2017 meeting with Cox FNT:

As routing manager, I need to have routing bundle and assign non-scheduled and scheduled activities both at time of bulk routing and when the activities arrive during the day, including activities with SLA in the past so that only one technician is automatically assigned to perform multiple activities at the same location (network node).

Specifically, the current feature should be enhanced as follows:

      1. Activities are bundled, based on visit bundling key (configurable by filter-like criteria instead of single company-wide key), as part of bulk routing run. This would assign activity bundles at the start of the day, and then item #2 would cover any activities that get created throughout the day.
      2. Activities are bundled, based on visit bundling key (configurable filter-like key), as part of recurring routing run, without the need to immediately assign an activity first.
      3. Provide the ability to bundle non-scheduled activities, including those that have an SLA start date/time in the past, together with other non-scheduled and scheduled activities in bulk routing, recurring routing and immediate assignment for urgent/non-urgent routing plans.

      4. Prevent immediate assignment of urgent activities from assigning call to techs that have on-call shifts with routes that have not yet been activated/reactivated.

      5. Provide the ability to configure routing plans for immediate assignment of non-urgent activities to either:

      • Allow activities on route to go into overtime (by configurable # of minutes)
      • Prevent overtime

      6. Provide the ability to configure filter criteria for immediate assignment of urgent work at routing plan level (instead of configuring in business rules).

      7. If an activity is part of a bundle, show list of other bundled activities in Mobility activity details, and allow tech to view another bundled activity, even though it is later in the route and not displayed due to progressive reveal visibility filters.

Olli, this would be an excellent feature.  It would reduce travel time and increase efficiencies.  At times we are tying up multiple resources to activities that are related to each other and can be resolved with the same fix.  It causes unnecessary truck rolls when this occurs.

      thanks,

      Joe

      Hi,

Thanks for sharing your idea with the Idea Lab.

The request are clear but can you please provide the specific business challenge(s) you are trying to solve?

      Thanks.

      Hi Mike,

The concrete business challenge for our business, which performs break/fix for Network events, is that the routing buckets can contain new activities or a backlog of activities for the same location. The activities in the bucket that are to be bundled can be either non-urgent or urgent work, and they can have a SLA end in the past or in the future.

With the existing logic, the multiple pre-existing activities are not bundled together, even though the activities would be performed with the least effort and cost if they were assigned to one technician, whether they have arrived a long time ago or recently.  Without this functionality we are often times routing multiple technicians to activities that are related to each other, causing multiple truck rolls in situations that only one truck is required to resolve both activities.
