    Title:
    Truck Capacity Solution
    Content:

    Hi,

Wanted to understand, if there is a way we can achieve Fleet (Truck) capacity management solution using TOA. Use case is as :

There is a company which delivers item to its customer & the delivery boys have a truck with a limited capacity (say 200 KG) , once the full capacity is reached, further booking shouldn't be allowed. Similarly if the the tuck has say only 5 KG left ( means it is already booked with 195 KG) any parcel with more than 5 KG shouldn't be allotted to the same.

Any inputs shall be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Regards

Any Field Service Version ( I am using V 17)

    Hi Arpit,

You can't use weight as a quota, because you need to manage they time also, but if you can and you don't need to take care about the time completely, then the current times can be changed to weights. I mean you specify the quota as a summed weight capacity of the bucket, you can give manual "duration" for activities the weight, but finally your Time View will be unusable.
Otherwise I don't have any idea for capacity handling, but you can use (as I believe) the equipment based routing to limit the amount of activities for a guy:
    1) book activities which including the needed equipment, example case is 100 "weight" (= 100 kg)
    2) fill the guys inventory with 200 "weight" before the routing starts and set "Enable routing by inventory"
    3) all guys will be filled with a maximal of 200 "weight"
    4) what about the unassigned ones? sorry...

      Thanks Zsolt for your suggestion.

I am thinking this might help us, You mean to say I define the maximum capacity as "Say 200" for an equipment or If I am wrong, please help me understand how can I achieve this in TOA?

      Hi Arpit,

No any of two is an elegant solution, but the product can't help about this situation as a standard functionality (as far as I know) for now.

      1) use weight as a quota: Bucket capacity for today is 400 unit, because two guys working with a 200 kg capacity car; both technician have 200 unit shift; travel excluded; fixed activity duration as the activity required weight; normal Routing with overtime not allowed.

      2) technician filled with 200 piece equipment "weight"; activity required equipment amount is as the weight required; normal shifts; Routing with equipment.

Or look for your Success Manager to get a complete / better solution if there is.

Sorry I can't explain it better, those are just ideas, maybe no any of them are usable, unforeseen issues may happens.

      Regards,
      Zsolt

Thanks Zsolt, let me try this & discuss this internally. I will share my findings if this helps or we are able to achieve the solution out of this.
