    Title:
How to display specific text in custom fields
    Content:

    Hello everybody,

Although looks simple, we couldn't find a solution for this issue. We have a custom object named "vendor" and we want to display in the Order Workspace the name of the Vendor for each order. We created a report for this search and added the vendor id. It displays the correct id of the vendor. The problem is that we need to display the name of the vendor, not it's id. How can we achieve this?  We compared to c_id, which by default displays concatenated name and surname of contact, but couldn't find the solution.

    Thank you.

Not here, not the relationship area. You would always use ID for relationship.

Go to 'Fields' section, and there should be a column for 'Object Lookup' against the fields. It would be the first column before field name. Check that radio button for vendor name.

The system handles some of the translations for IDs to names for the OOTB tables but for custom objects you have to specify the name field you want to display.

So if you want to display the Vendor Name you should list the vendor.name in your report and not the vendor ID.  Which means their has to be a relationship between Order and Vendor and that relationship has to be established before it will display the name.

Thank you Carl for your answer!

We did all these steps: we have a relationship between the two custom objects and a custom search report displayed on the VendorID field (the custom report has only the Name column - the one we want to display on the Order Workspace). Please see attached printscreen.

Since the two objects are both custom, is there any further configuration to made?

      Hi Andreea,

In the object designer for your Vendor object, try selecting the Object Lookup column for vendor name field. That should show the vendor name where ever lookup info is needed.

      Hello Anuj,

This would probably do, but the Vendor Name is not available for selection. There are available only integer-type and menu-type fields. See printscreen.

      Thank you!

Thank you, Anuj! The solution you provided worked great.
