[Delivered] Dispatcher core manage view Dynamic Floating Shift OFSC to reflect reality of in day work
    User Story / Description:

Shifts in OFSC are assigned to resources, these have a specific start and end time.

However human field resources are not robots and their start and end times vary.

If a resource has a shift of 08:00- 16:00 assigned to him, this time is static, no matter when he starts of finishes.

The idea would be if the resource starts this shift at say 07:30 his end time would shift to 15:30, this would prevent additional activities being assigned as the planned activities move earlier.

It is also useful for late. starters, moving their shift end later in the day, so not giving the impression of overtime.

It could also be safeguarded to be a maximum of x minutes earlier or later, to avoid too much conflict with promised customer ETA's.

See image for example of early or late starts.

      Hi Clive,

How the capacity is plannable if -for example- all those technicians are starting 1 hour later, because they're allowed to do that? I mean client facing activities with time slots.
So IMO this is a very special situation with -let say-, free technicians.

Shifts are almost freely changeable. I mean if I'm a dispatcher and one of the technician is started 1 hour before, then I can change his/her shift to an another where the end time is -1 hour (compared to the original one). Capacity planning still can be an issue, while the end 1 hour may already booked for activities.

      Hi Zsolt,

I totally understand your point, that it causes some issues with planning.

However these are humans we are working with not robots, they do not all leave the house at precisely the same time like Stepford Wives.

I can understand this working better if the resources left from a depot, however in my experience, even in this used case the start time can vary tremendously.

Also the back office team/planners have better things to do than go in and manually adjust the day.

What we are talking about is an automatic in day adjustment.

      Hi Clive,

Thanks for sharing your idea with the Idea Lab.

Your request can be supported today using the APIs.  You can monitor when a resource starts their Shift, compare it to their planned Start Time and based on your unique business rules an update can be sent to change the work time end.  This would provide a fully automated approach and allow full flexibility to meet your specific business needs. Marked as delivered since the APIs support your business need.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your feedback.
