    Title:
    unsubscribe form auto emails
    Content:

    Hi,

I have a requirement to unsubscribe to mailing list from email.

Contacts are not using CP pages, all the incident are created by techmail, On creation of incident auto emails are going to customers but for some of the contacts they don't want to receive auto emails and some customers they want receive auto emails. Apart from Agent console is there any option to unsubscribe from email itself.

Note: This is not survey emails or campaign emails. This is for question receipt, incident solved email templates.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Nagendra

    Hi Nagendra.

Since you are using techmail only and want to give your customer the control, it can only be done after they have received their first confirmation.

I have not tested this solution but in the confirmation message template (question receipt) you could provide a link to a page that requires sign in so the system knows the user and have the Contact.Global Opt-in field visible on this page and have a incident business rule Contact.Global Opt-in equals No THEN Do Not Send Email Receipt Message.

The lable Global Opt-in can be changed in the message base (GLOBAL_OPT_IN_*) or on the php page only

If you do not allow or have disabled the CP for end users then you could write an instruction as to write the word UNSUBSCRIBE in the subject when replying to the confirmation mail and have the Global Opt-in set to No in a business rule triggered by a regular expression that looks for the word UNSUBSCRIBE in the subject.

    Or have a mailto link
    <a href="mailto:someone@example.com?Subject=UNSUBSCRIBE" target="_top">Click here to unsubscribe</a>

Thanks Sebastiaan for your response, Just needed one more clarification, how we can set global-opt in value?

Global Opt-In value is at contact level and the rule we are writing at incident level, we cannot set contact fields at incident level.

      Thanks & Regards,

      Nagendra

Ah.... yes, sorry, I see this field is only available in the IF section but not in the THEN section for incident rules....

In that case the only customer controlled unsubscribe I can think of is having a php page that requires authentication so the system knows the user and have the global opt in field there. The alternative is having an agent handle the unsubscribe part manually (see attached rule as an example)

I have added rule but still am receiving incident received confirmation message. Please check attached rule.

      Thanks & Regards,

      The rule looks fine.
Did you check the rule log tosee if the rule got triggered in the incident?

    • Nagendra Aviligonda

Yeah, I have checked rule log, it is satisfying if condition and going to Then block.

Are these confirmation mails will trigger any other way other than business rules? There are no workspace rules apart from this rule.

      Thanks & Regards,

      Nagendra

There is a separate one for confirmation mail (see attachement)

Unsubscribe from this is working fine

      <a href="mailto:someone@example.com?Subject=UNSUBSCRIBE" target="_top">Click here to unsubscribe</a>

But it is opening in separate window, it should send mail automatically, is this feasible?

      Thanks & Regards,
